New Farmers Market Brand to Debut November 2nd

PHOENIX, Arizona – The Open Air Market at Phoenix Public Market is excited to announce a new brand identity as Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market. The comprehensive rebrand will be shared with the public this fall and includes a new logo and website.  Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market’s fresh brand encompasses the values of the organization, the diverse community it serves and the welcoming atmosphere of the farmers market.

“With the development taking place downtown, the timing was just right,” said Sara Matlin, executive director at Community Food Connections. “It started with a simple website update. However, the more we talked to our community, the more it became evident that we needed a rebrand. Most of all, we needed to do a better job at messaging the work we do as a non-profit organization.”

Community Food Connections (CFC), a 501c3 non-profit, has been operating the farmers market in downtown Phoenix since 2005. “The market is a success story for the strength of Arizona’s local food system and its small businesses.” According to Sara, “It has steadily grown into a thriving resource serving over 20,000 community members every year.” CFC will continue to focus on supporting small farms and local producers through a year-round farmers market, special events such as PHX Pheast and Phoestivus, vendor scholarships, small business resources, and the launch of the CFC Small Farm Fund.

The new name and logo were developed through a collaborative process and branding expertise of HAPI. The creation of the new brand has included months of research and development and incorporated input from diverse shoppers, community leaders, business owners, and residents. The research revealed the priorities of the community when it comes to shopping for local foods and products.  Sara added, “Our diverse community strongly believes in supporting locally grown and produced products. Our new brand solidifies our commitment to provide that at the farmers market.”

Especially for those seeking a farmers market truly committed to seasonally-grown, local foods and products; Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market creates a weekly, urban event for residents and visitors to gather and socialize among a diverse crowd of community farmers, small businesses and shoppers.

While the name and branding will change, the farmers market will stay the same. Shop local purveyors every Saturday morning opening at 8:00 am. Guests can enjoy an exciting line up of events this season, including cooking demonstrations focused on seasonal eating, gardening resources, health and wellness workshops, live music and seasonal harvests. The farmers market makes it easy to live the market life and find farm-fresh foods while being inspired by the energy of Downtown Phoenix.

A multi-phase rollout includes a top-to-bottom redesign of the market’s name, logo, and other visual communications that utilize bright, vibrant graphics. The new brand will be shared with the public Saturday, November 2, 2019, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm at the farmers market. The last phase of the rebrand will include a responsive website that is easy to navigate. Until the new website is up and running customers may still visit and tag @phxpublicmarket or #lettucemeatdowntown on social media.

The Open Air Market at Phoenix Public Market is proudly supported by Arizona Federal Credit Union, Get Your PHX, Green Bins and North Kenilworth Veterinary Care.
